WHAT REALLY IS DEATH ALL ABOUT?

WHAT REALLY IS DEATH ALL ABOUT?

Health
Written by Ali Elias “We come, we go…” That’s the nature of life. Death or translation, just as birth, is as sure as the sunset or sunrise, for as long as the earth endures. But what really is death all about? In my younger days, growing up in the village, death was rare, not so often– but when it occurs, it brings out a grotesque picture of life. The mourning is usually heavy, the mood melancholic and scary. Scary, not of death or dying itself, since it’s always the elderly that dies, but scary because of the perceived thought that the ghost of the departed will be hovering around the village. The fear was always so strong that I could hardly sit at the end of the long bench which served as our chair in the village. I had to sandwich myself in between others. Of course, you dare ...

Source: Reproductive Health Supplies Published 9/1/2023 A cross section of women in Abuja on Sunday expressed diverse views on the use of contraceptives. Some of the women told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in separate interviews that family planning was a necessity, yet a hectic, journey. Some said they found pregnancy prevention methods safe, while others said they steer clear because of the side effects. Mrs Benita Sampson, a civil servant, said that her family planning method had been helpful because she does not have the fear of unplanned pregnancy. “I use Nexplanon which is the arm birth control implant. I replace the implant every three years which is convenient for me. ”I sometimes forget I’m wearing it; it has been good because, unlike some other women, I ...

WHEN DOES LIFE ACTUALLY BEGIN?

WHEN DOES LIFE ACTUALLY BEGIN?

By Ali Elias Let’s revisit the issue about abortion. This post would be focusing on the responses to our earlier post, “Don’t Die Under Guilt: What Everyone Should Know Or Consider About Abortion”. You have to read it to be fully involved in the on-going discussion. The first comment goes thus. “Where you missed the point is that the owner of the building, whether complete (as in already delivered or grown person), or uncompleted (as in foetus), is not the tenant or caretaker (mother) but the Landlord (the creator Himself)”. It went further, “we don’t go amending a property you do not own, talk less of demolishing it, just because the Landlord made you a caretaker” “Immediately after conception, life begins; whether in form of blood or foetus. No one has the right to murder (abort...

DON’T DIE UNDER GUILT: WHAT EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW OR CONSIDER ABOUT ABORTION

Health
Written by Ali Elias For as long as there is life on earth, and for as long as the true nature of man continues to be under the clouds, our views on abortion would continue to be polarized. Daggers would continue to be drawn between those who are for, and against, abortion.  Nevertheless, there are a few things we ought to know. Or consider. Some people’s strong point in arguing against abortion is the fact that movement and pulse beat can be observed in a foetus. “What crime has your child committed to deserve to have its arms and its legs pulled off of its body and its head crushed in the womb?” Gabriel Olivier rhetorically questioned during a recent rally of opponents and supporters of abortion in Mississippi, USA. That’s highly emotive. However, emotion has nothing to do ...
