Ilishan Remo, Ikenne, Ogun State, Nigeria – The life of Mrs. Stella Oluwatoyin Odunlami, a remarkable woman known for her kindness, dedication, and spiritual devotion, was celebrated in an elevating Memorial Service held on March 9th, 2024, before her interment. Mrs. Odunlami, who translated on February 26th, 2024, left behind a legacy of love and service that touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Born in July 1960, Mrs. Odunlami embarked on a journey of education and service that would span decades. As the devoted wife of Odunlami Ibrahim and a loving mother to five children – three sons, Aliru, Olanrewaju, Soliu, and two daughters, Saratu and Anota – she was the cornerstone of her family.

Mrs. Odunlami’s professional life was marked by her tenure as a teacher with the Lagos State Education Board, where she dedicated herself to shaping the minds and futures of young students. Her passion for education was evident in her tireless efforts to instill knowledge and inspire her students to reach their full potential. After years of service, Mrs. Odunlami retired on March 5th, 2020, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in education.

In addition to her career, Mrs. Odunlami was a devoted member and cleric of ECKANKAR, the Path of Spiritual Freedom. As an In-Law of hers pointed out during Remembrances, “she was always singing the HU in her challenging and even her good times” (HU is an ancient name of God which ECKists sing or chant as their basic prayer.) Her faith was a guiding light in her life, providing comfort and solace during at all times.

In accordance with ECKANKAR practice, and the family’s wishes, an ECK Memorial Service was held in her honor at Ilishan Remo, Ikenne, Ogun State, where she came from. The Memorial Service, officiated by Ademola Shote, another cleric of ECKANKAR, was attended by ECKists, family members, members of the general public, neighbors, relatives, friends, and colleagues.

Prior to the Memorial Service, an ECK Awareness programme was held for her on March 7th, 2024, at the family’s residence in Ikotun, Lagos, further highlighting Mrs. Odunlami’s deep spiritual connection and impact within her community.

During the remembrances proper, family members, colleagues, fellow ECK members, and others spoke highly and fondly of Mrs. Odunlami’s immense love, charity, dedication to service, exceptional gentility, and unwavering support. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness and the profound impact one person can have on the lives of others. Both events, the ECK Awareness programme and were well attended

As Mrs. Stella Oluwatoyin Odunlami is laid to rest, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Though she may have departed this world, her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire and uplift future generations. She leaves behind a grieving husband, Ibrahim Odunlami, and a loving family who will cherish her memory forever.
