NCDMB LAUNCHES NDT TRAINING FOR OIL AND GAS WORKFORCE

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has commenced a Human Capacity Development (HCD) training programme for 30 trainees in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Levels 1 and 2, as part of efforts to strengthen technical expertise in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

The development was disclosed via the Board’s official X account, which noted that the programme kicked off earlier on Friday, last week, with a ceremony held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, said the initiative reflects the Board’s commitment to building a competent and globally competitive Nigerian workforce.

Represented by the Manager, Human Capacity Development, Mrs. Tarilate Teide-Bribena, Ogbe highlighted the critical role of NDT professionals in ensuring the safety and reliability of oil and gas infrastructure.

He charged the trainees to demonstrate discipline, commitment and professionalism throughout the three-month programme, stressing that the training is designed to equip participants with industry-relevant and globally recognised skills.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of Gennesaret Resources Nigeria Limited, Engr. Akinwale Eso, outlined the structure of the training, emphasising the importance of full participation and strict adherence to required training hours as a prerequisite for certification.

The trainees subsequently took an oath of commitment, signalling their readiness to undertake the intensive programme.

In her closing remarks, Mrs. Teide-Bribena expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their support and reiterated the Board’s resolve to bridge critical skills gaps in the oil and gas industry, urging participants to remain dedicated and maximise the opportunity.

Non-Destructive Testing, according to an industry operator, remains a vital component in maintaining the integrity of oil and gas assets, with increasing demand for certified professionals across upstream and downstream operations.
