In a significant display of high-level industry synergy, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, alongside the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, headlined a delegation of energy leaders to the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) exhibition booth on Tuesday.
The visit, a focal point of the 10th Anniversary Edition of the Sub-Saharan International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (SAIPEC 2026), underscored the central role of local content in driving Africa’s energy independence.
The ministerial team was received by Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, General Manager of Corporate Communications, and Mr. Omomehin Ajimijaye, Acting Director of Monitoring and Evaluation. During the tour, Ajimijaye detailed the Board’s strategic roadmap, emphasizing NCDMB’s evolving mission to harmonize local content standards across the African continent.
A key highlight of the briefing was the announcement of the Board’s “field readiness” training initiative. The program is designed to equip 10,000 Nigerian youths with specialized technical skills, ensuring a ready-made workforce for upcoming major oil and gas projects.
“We are not just monitoring compliance; we are building capacity,” Ajimijaye told the delegation. He further highlighted the milestones of the Nigerian Content Intervention Fund (NCI Fund), which continues to provide the critical financial backbone for indigenous service providers to compete on a global scale.
As SAIPEC 2026 celebrates a decade of industry influence, the NCDMB’s presence serves as a reminder that the future of African energy lies in the hands of its people and the strength of its local supply chains.
