6 PILLARS OF ECONOMIC REFORMS PRESIDENT TINUBU MUST ENGAGE

Opinion
By Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, SAN OPINION In our latest policy report, OAL Governance and Economic Analysis and Forecast 2025, I stated that for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to effectively begin the process of national economic recovery, six major reform pillars must be urgently and strategically implemented. These pillars lay the foundation for a new policy direction focused on efficiency, transparency, and economic inclusion.  First and foremost, there is an urgent need for decentralising power in Nigeria. The country's over centralised federal system hinders development, and to achieve growth, power must be devolved to the geopolitical zones, each functioning with economic and administrative autonomy. Devolution will empower local governments with resources and responsibilities on...

NNPC CRUDE SUSPENSION TO DANGOTE REFINERY CUTS OPEC OUTPUT, TRIGGERS FUEL PRICE SPIKE

Energy
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s (NNPC) decision to halt crude deliveries to the Dangote refinery and other local plants in March contributed to a dip in oil output from the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), according to a new Reuters survey. The survey revealed that OPEC's collective output fell by 110,000 barrels per day (bpd) in March, with Nigeria, Iran, and Venezuela each accounting for a 50,000 bpd decline. In Nigeria's case, the drop was attributed to “reduced deliveries to the Dangote refinery, offsetting higher exports,” Reuters reported. Despite this decline, Nigeria is reportedly producing slightly above its OPEC quota. Delayed Shipments and Disputed Terms Sources told The PUNCH that NNPC delayed seven crude cargoes meant for ...
