The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in collaboration with the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN), has concluded the third stream of its Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Installation and Maintenance Training Programme in Rivers State, further expanding efforts to build local capacity in Nigeria’s renewable energy sector.
The close-out ceremony marked another milestone in the Board’s human capital development drive aimed at equipping young Nigerians with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship in the growing solar energy value chain.
Speaking at the event, Director General of NAPTIN, Ahmed B. Nagode, commended the NCDMB for sustaining the initiative, disclosing that the programme had already trained more than 300 youths across different streams.
Nagode described the initiative as a strategic intervention in youth development and capacity building, urging participants to deploy the knowledge gained for productive ventures and community development.
He said the programme reflected the growing importance of renewable energy skills as Nigeria seeks to diversify its energy mix and strengthen local participation in emerging sectors.
The NAPTIN boss further encouraged beneficiaries to become ambassadors of the programme by applying their technical competencies positively within society.
Representing the NCDMB at the ceremony, Khadija Jekhine expressed satisfaction with the successful completion of Stream 3, noting that participants demonstrated discipline, commitment and dedication throughout the training period.
She commended the trainees for their active participation and urged them to maximise the opportunities created by the programme.
According to her, the Board remains committed to initiatives that promote skills acquisition, employment creation and indigenous capacity development in line with its mandate.
The event featured goodwill messages from NAPTIN officials, appreciation remarks from beneficiaries and the presentation of certificates to participants who successfully completed the training.
The Solar Photovoltaic Installation and Maintenance Training Programme forms part of NCDMB’s broader strategy to develop technical manpower and prepare Nigerian youths for opportunities emerging within the renewable energy and power sectors.
The initiative also aligns with the Federal Government’s energy transition agenda and efforts to expand access to clean energy solutions while creating sustainable livelihoods.
The latest training in Rivers State adds to NCDMB’s growing portfolio of human capital interventions targeted at deepening local content and strengthening Nigeria’s technical workforce.
