In a continued commitment to improving healthcare access and well-being, the NNPC Ltd/FIRST E & P Joint Venture (JV) has successfully carried out its 2025 health outreach program across eleven KEFFESO communities in Bayelsa State.
The initiative, which aligns with the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021, underscores its dedication to addressing critical healthcare challenges in its host communities.
Thousands of residents benefited from the program, which took place from January 29 to February 1, 2025. The outreach covered the KEFFESO communities, which include Koluama 1, Koluama 2, Ezetu 1, Ezetu 2, Foropa, Fish Town, Ekeni, Sangana, Opu Okumbiri, Okumbiribeleu, and Oginibiri.
Operating under two Oil Mining Leases (OMLs)—OML 83 (Anyala Field) and OML 85 (Madu Field)—the NNPC/FIRST E & P JV plays a significant role in Nigeria’s energy sector. These fields are situated in the shallow waters of the Gulf of Guinea, off the Bayelsa State coastline.
The company’s health outreach program provided essential medical services, reinforcing its role as a responsible corporate entity committed to the welfare of its host communities. By offering free medical care and health education, NNPC Ltd/FIRST E & P JV aims to foster sustainable development and long-term positive impact in these communities.
“As a responsible corporate entity, we are committed to fostering sustainable community development and ensuring the well-being of our host communities through vital healthcare services,” stated Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communication Officer, NNPC Ltd.
The outreach program exemplifies the growing role of oil and gas companies in community engagement beyond energy production. As corporate social responsibility efforts like these expand, they contribute significantly to bridging healthcare gaps in underserved regions of Nigeria.
