‘NIGERIA IS PROUD OF YOU’ — PETER OBI HAILS OSIMHEN’S HEROICS

Mr. Peter Obi, has congratulated Nigerian football star Victor Osimhen after he fired Galatasaray S.K. to the Turkish Süper Lig title with a match-winning performance.

Osimhen scored twice in the crucial victory that sealed the championship for Galatasaray, further cementing his reputation as one of the hottest strikers in world football.

Reacting in a post on his X account, Obi described the Super Eagles forward as an inspiration to millions of young Nigerians chasing their dreams against difficult odds.

“I want to join other fans in congratulating one of Nigeria’s many talented exports, Victor Osimhen, for successfully leading Galatasaray S.K. to the Turkish Süper Lig title with a brilliant performance,” Obi wrote.

“Your resilience, discipline, and talent continue to inspire millions of young Nigerians to believe in the power of hard work, dedication, and excellence.”

The former Anambra State governor said Osimhen’s journey from humble beginnings to global football stardom proves that Nigerian youths can compete with the best in the world when given the right support and opportunities.

According to Obi, the striker has continued to fly Nigeria’s flag proudly on the international stage through both his achievements and personal conduct.

“Nigerians are immensely proud of you and your continued success,” he added.

Obi also used the moment to renew calls for greater investment in sports development, lamenting what he described as years of neglect of a sector capable of transforming lives and creating opportunities for young people.

“I have often spoken about the transformative power of sports and the immense opportunities it offers to young people. This is why the persistent neglect of the sector in our country is deeply regrettable,” he stated.

He stressed that there are countless young Nigerians with talents similar to Osimhen’s who only need proper leadership, training and support to excel globally.

“The truth is that Nigeria is blessed with countless talents like Osimhen, waiting for the right leadership, support, and environment to rise, excel, and bring glory to the nation,” Obi said.

Osimhen’s latest achievement has sparked excitement among Nigerian football fans, especially youths who see the striker as a symbol of determination, hustle and breakthrough.

The 27-year-old forward has enjoyed an impressive season in Turkey, becoming a fan favourite at Galatasaray with his goals, energy and fighting spirit.

Obi ended his message by wishing the Nigerian striker even greater success in the future while reiterating his belief in “a new Nigeria” where every sector, including sports, can thrive.
