The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has dismissed recent speculation suggesting a halt in operations, assuring Nigerians and market stakeholders that its production remains uninterrupted and stable.
In an official statement signed by the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, the refinery described the reports as “false and misleading,” insisting that truck loading and production activities continue without disruption.
“The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is fully operational. There has been no shutdown, nor has there been any suspension of truck loading activities,” the statement read.
The management clarified that the intermittent sale of Residual Catalytic Oil (RCO) — which recently triggered market rumours — is a routine aspect of operations, often involving large parcel sales that explain the recent fuel oil tender.
According to Chiejina, the refinery supplies over 40 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) daily, in addition to consistent volumes of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel), with no plans to scale down deliveries.
“As the world’s largest single-train petroleum refinery, the facility employs advanced predictive and preventive maintenance protocols to ensure uninterrupted operations. Routine maintenance activities are standard and do not impact the overall fuel supply,” he stated.
Addressing speculation of looming fuel shortages and price hikes, the refinery issued a bold challenge to rumour peddlers.
“To those who believe this misinformation and anticipate a bullish market, we extend a challenge: We invite interested buyers to place immediate orders for up to 40 million litres of PMS daily and 15 million litres of AGO daily, for the next 90 days.”
The company reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, national energy security, and the delivery of clean, high-quality fuels. It urged Nigerians to disregard what it described as the handiwork of “unscrupulous and unpatriotic individuals” bent on undermining the country’s energy independence for selfish gains, including the importation of substandard petroleum products under the guise of supply shortages.
