SUPER EAGLES NEW COACH ERIC CHELLE REVEALS BACKROOM STAFF

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially introduced Eric Chelle as the new head coach of the Super Eagles. The unveiling ceremony took place on Monday at the Moshood Abiola Stadium conference room in Abuja.

Chelle, a 47-year-old Franco-Malian, was presented alongside his backroom staff, which includes first assistant Hadi Taboubi, fitness trainer Thomas Gornourec, and goalkeeper trainer Jean Daniel Padovani.

A Familiar Team

Chelle’s assistants bring a wealth of experience and an established working relationship, having collaborated with him previously at Algerian club MC Oran.

Hadi Taboubi, a French-Tunisian, will serve as Chelle’s first assistant, continuing a partnership that dates back to their time coaching the Mali national team.

Thomas Gornourec, the fitness trainer, holds a UEFA A License and a Master’s degree, adding impressive credentials to the coaching crew.

Jean Daniel Padovani, the goalkeeper trainer, brings international experience, having worked with the Comoros national team during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

NFF Appeals for Support

The NFF has called on Nigerians to rally behind Chelle as he begins his tenure. NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau emphasized the importance of unity and support for the new coach, especially as the team prepares for their remaining matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

“Coach Chelle brings fresh energy, innovative thinking, and a positive attitude,” Gusau said. “We understand Nigerians’ passion for football, and we urge everyone to support him. The NFF is committed to providing the resources he needs to succeed.”

A Critical Challenge Ahead  Chelle’s first major test will come in March, when the Super Eagles take on their next opponents in the World Cup qualifiers. With high expectations and a challenging road ahead, all eyes will be on Chelle and his team to deliver results and inspire confidence in Nigerian football.
