POLITICAL BRIDGES IN OSOGBO: ADELEKE INAUGURATES PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN COUNCIL, TEASES BREAKTHROUGH IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT CRISIS

In a landmark display of cross-party coalition building, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke formally inaugurated the state’s Presidential Campaign Council to drive the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The high-profile event, held in Osogbo, brought together key political actors from diverse platforms—including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Accord Party—to forge a united front for the upcoming national polls. Beyond cementing national electoral alliances, the gathering also served as a platform for critical administrative updates, including a major prospective breakthrough on the state’s local government logjam.

A Rainbow Coalition for the Presidency

Addressing a packed hall of stakeholders, Governor Adeleke emphasized that the multi-party alliance is strictly structured around the presidential contest rather than domestic legislative races. He noted that while political actors are putting aside past rivalries to deliver maximum votes for President Tinubu, coalition partners retain full independence for local senatorial, House of Representatives, and state assembly contests.

“What ties us together is the presidential, not the legislative elections,” Governor Adeleke stated during his address. “From the pain of the past, we must unite for the prosperity of the future. From unity in diversity, we must forge a new brotherhood behind our leader, Asiwaju Tinubu.”

Stakeholder Perspectives on Cross-Party Collaboration

The necessity of the rare political alignment was further underscored by other prominent stakeholders and party representatives at the event. Speaking on behalf of the Osun State APC leadership, Vice Chairman Adelakun Adeoye highlighted that pragmatic collaboration has become vital for electoral success in the state.

Adeoye candidly noted that the party recognized the changing political dynamics, explaining:

“This is the best we can have in the present circumstances. As APC alone, we have not won an election in the last three election cycles, and if we must give President Tinubu the required number of votes in Osun, we have to collaborate. This is why we are collaborating, and the President himself has acknowledged the collaboration.”
