The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has announced the promotion of Dr. Obinna Joseph Ezeobi to the position of General Manager, Corporate Communications Division. His elevation, which took effect on May 7, 2025, has been met with widespread commendation within the oil and gas industry and beyond.

Dr. Ezeobi, a seasoned communication strategist and scholar, has been instrumental in shaping the Board’s strategic communication approach and driving its visibility across critical stakeholders. With over a decade of progressive service at NCDMB, he has earned a reputation for professionalism, strategic insight, and effective engagement.

The newly appointed GM holds a doctorate degree in Communications from the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He is also the author of the recently published book, Nigeria’s Local Content: A Journey of Strategic Communication and Economic Transformation, which explores the vital intersection between communication and Nigeria’s economic development through local content policy.

Colleagues and industry observers alike have praised the appointment.

“Dr. Ezeobi’s promotion is well deserved. His leadership in corporate communications has transformed how we engage with stakeholders, and he’s been a quiet force behind many of NCDMB’s successful public engagements,” said a senior NCDMB staff member who requested anonymity.

“Obinna has always had a sharp grasp of narrative strategy. His recent book just reaffirms what many of us already know — he’s one of the few who understand how communication drives economic policy,” remarked a colleague in the media industry.

An industry analyst added: “His appointment sends a strong message about the Board’s direction — that strategic communication is no longer peripheral but central to local content development.”

A former university mate recalled: “Even back in Port Harcourt, he stood out for his discipline and intellectual curiosity. It’s no surprise to see him rise like this.”
