Mr. Mele Kyari, the GCEO of NNPC limited has restated the role of natural gas in propelling economic growth and industrialization of Nigeria.
He stated this during a book launch in Abuja. The book, “The Rise of Gas: From Gaslink to the Decade of Gas” written by Charles A. Osezua, put a spotlight on gas and its global acceptance as an important energy source to fuel economic development.
The Chief Corporate Communication Officer of NNPC Limited, Olufemi Soneye, had on Wednesday, on the company’s official X (twitter) handle quoted the GCEO, Mr. Kyari, as emphasizing the need to prioritize natural gas production in the country.
“This is especially crucial given the geopolitical dynamics and energy security concerns in the global economy,” the chief officer of the company said.
The NNPC helmsman who was represented at the book launch by Mrs. Oluwakemi Olumuyiwa, Head of Relationship and Stakeholder Management at NNPCL emphasised the significance of appropriately documenting Nigeria’s gas sector.
“The book aligns with the Federal Government’s ‘Decade of Gas’ initiative, aimed at optimizing Nigeria’s abundant gas reserves for both domestic consumption and international export.
“As a key stakeholder, NNPC Ltd. has played a leading role in advancing the ‘Decade of Gas’ agenda through strategic investments in critical gas infrastructure such as pipelines and processing facilities.”
The author, Osezua, in his Remark at the launch of the book, “The Rise of Gas” said it is his contribution to Nigeria’s energy literature, while thanking the NNPCL for their support towards the launch of the book. “NNPC’s participation at this launch underscores the company’s commitment to fostering knowledge sharing and innovation within the gas industry.” the author concluded.
