The event which took place on December 26, 2021, boxing day, at Nnokwa hall, Okeafa, Isolo, Lagos, could not have taken place at a better date. Boxing Day is a day to bestow gifts, believed to be packaged in boxes, to loved ones, friends and associates. Her platinum birthday celebration was a gift heartily bestowed by her children to celebrate her.

According to her most senior son, Mr. Emeka Nnoruka, a business man in Lagos, “we planned this birthday to celebrate and honour her, and to thank her for all she is been doing for us” Asked whether they had to make it this grand, he simply responded, “she is worth every kobo spent” One of her sons-in-law equally spoke in the same vein, “she is very kind, considerate and loving- for me, all that a mother should be to her children; I praise her courage”

The event was well anticipated, and planned, judging by its timing and perfect execution. It involved all her children and grand children. “We were all involved” revealed her last daughter, Mrs. Obinuju Ezeobi, owner and CEO of Gallant Chic, a firm in Abuja, specializing in beauty products, adding, “the coordination was through online platform since we live in different parts of the country. Everybody wanted to contribute in idea to ensure it’s a memorable occasion, not just for her but for all of us”. And truly, the event reflected the outcome of their preparation. It was electrifying.

The event proper started off with a Thanksgiving Mass, celebrated by Rev. Fr. Leo Onyekachi Ukwuani osj, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Okeafa, Isolo, Lagos. In the homily the reverend kept emphasizing the need for unity in the family, and the need for every member to identify with it. And his unity is what the children demonstrated by coming together, without exception, to celebrate their mum.

After the Church service, the reception followed at the specially and tastefully decorated hall at Nnokwa building, which is within walking distance from the Church. Food, drinks, music, and other aspects of entertainment, which to a great extent determine the success of such event, were in excess.
